Grand Teton National Park

note: The intention of this series is a personal study celebrating the 250th anniversary of our Nation, I’ll be sharing photographs that reflect my love for this Country. The United States is my home, and while there are challenges and uncertainties, there is also so much worth celebrating.  These photographs will feature our National Parks, along with State parks and everyday American scenes captured during years of travel. My hope is to offer a brief pause from the noise and a moment to appreciate what endures. ER

Slightly south of Yellowstone National Park lies another jewel of the American West: Grand Teton National Park. Though smaller in scale than Yellowstone, the Tetons are defined by meandering rivers, still lakes, and mountains bathed in the first light of day.

This landscape carries both natural grandeur and human history, shaped by early settlers and by those who came long before. The Tetons offer a sense of presence and clarity that lingers long after leaving the region, making them an essential destination for anyone fortunate enough to experience them.

Of note, the first image in this series was taken at Snake River Overlook. It was particularly humbling to stand in the same location where Ansel Adams created one of his iconic photographs—famously captured from the roof of his vehicle. I chose to keep my feet on the ground, mindful of the moment and hoping to do the scene justice.
