USA 250 — Series Statement
The intention of this series is a personal study celebrating the 250th anniversary of our nation. I will be sharing photographs that reflect my love for my country. The United States is my home, and while there are challenges and uncertainties, there is also much worth celebrating.
These photographs feature our National Parks, select state parks, and everyday American scenes captured over years of travel. My hope is to offer a brief pause from the noise—a moment to reflect on what endures.

Over the course of this project, we will return to southern Utah and northern Arizona several times. When I am in Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park, my thoughts turn to deep time: ancient landscapes, dinosaurs, extreme weather, and a vast yet surprisingly intimate countryside.
It’s difficult to describe these parks as small, yet in total land area they are—especially when compared to the immense diversity packed into the surrounding region. Southern Utah and northern Arizona contain an extraordinary concentration of National, State, and Tribal lands. Within a single year, one might encounter tour buses filled with international visitors, off-roaders, whitewater rapid seekers, archaeologists studying the distant past, scientists looking toward the future, rock climbers testing the present moment—and, at times, find oneself completely alone, lost in thought.
And then there are the stars—unforgettable in their clarity and scale.
Speaking of stars, the three images of the iconic Mesa Arch were captured within a span of just three hours. Wow.
God has blessed America.
